Veterans Assistance Commission Details Record Setting Year

The Sangamon County Veterans Assistance Commission has released the organization's report for 2022. The report showed a significant increase in services provided to veterans over previous years. The total service rendered by the organization had a 79% increase, from 6,900 services provided in 2021 to 8,684 in 2022.


Overall, 2022 was a record setting year for the VAC in bringing benefits to Sangamon County Veterans, with a total of $2,363,736 awarded. The table below provides a full list of services:





“From my personal experience, I can attest to the exceptional support and assistance provided by the VAC to veterans,” said County Board Member Jeff Thomas. “I have referred so many people to the VAC and they are always quickly taken care of, and the turnaround time from VA to his office is phenomenal.”


The Veteran's Assistance Commission provides assistance to veterans in Sangamon County. The organization's mission is to provide financial, medical, and educational assistance to veterans and their families.
