On Wednesday, November 1st, the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office responded to the 800 block of Lincoln Street in Pawnee to assist the Pawnee Police Department with an investigation that involved a 29-year-old female being struck by a vehicle.
Once on scene, it was determined the 29-year-old victim and the driver of the truck, Robert R. Terry, age 64, were in a domestic disturbance prior to the victim being hit by the vehicle. The victim was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Robert Terry was interviewed by Sheriff's Office detectives and subsequently arrested and charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery, Aggravated Battery/Great Bodily Harm, and Aggravated Reckless Driving. Terry is currently being held at the Sangamon County jail, charged with attempted first-degree murder. A Sangamon County judge denied pretrial release on Friday, and a preliminary hearing was set for Nov. 16 at 9 a.m
The victim sustained multiple fractures to the upper and lower portions of her body, along with a lacerated kidney, and is currently undergoing surgery.
The incident is being investigated by the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office and the Pawnee Police Department.
