YMCA Receives Donation for Summer Camps

The Springfield YMCA has received a generous donation of $50,000 from Frank and Linda Vala to support their annual summer camp for children from low-income families. With a longstanding commitment to enhancing the lives of underprivileged individuals, Frank and Linda Vala have contributed over $250,000 over the years to help children participate in the camp and engage in activities during their summer break.

"We are incredibly grateful to Linda and Frank for this generous donation," expressed Angie Sowle, CEO of the YMCA of Springfield. "As an organization dedicated to youth development, we know how important it is that our children have a safe and enriching environment for learning, playing, and exploring their interests during the summer months. We are excited to be able to provide financial assistance to children in our community who may not be able to afford a summer camp experience. This generous donation will ensure that all children who want to participate in summer camp have the means to do so."

Frank Vala shared his perspective, saying, "For many years, Linda and I have been helping people expand their lives through education, socialization, and skills that may not otherwise be available to them. We are happy to provide this donation to the YMCA so they can help underserved children in our community foster creativity and build a sense of accomplishment."

In 2022, the Springfield YMCA served over 12,000 children through various programs, with 800 children participating in the summer camp.
