A New Year and a Thank You to Our Readers

As we welcome a new year, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who reads the Sangamon Reporter.

Over the past year, more than 750 local news stories were published on our site. Those stories highlight the people, places, and issues that make Sangamon County what it is, and I hope you’ve found them informative, useful, and worth your time. None of this would be possible without the many volunteers and concerned citizens who continue to contribute and help shine a light on local news.

In 2025, we also added new features and expanded our coverage, including more crime reporting and more community-focused stories. We’ve listened closely to what readers care about, and we’ll continue to adjust and improve as we grow.

Looking ahead to 2026, we’re excited to keep building on that work and to expand our coverage even further. Our focus will remain on timely, local stories that matter to the people who live here.
