Sangamon County Animal Control has passed its most recent inspection by the Illinois Department of Agriculture with no violations identified.

The January 16th inspection found the facility in full compliance with state requirements, awarding the highest possible rating in all 12 evaluation categories. No deficiencies were noted in the official report.

The inspection is part of the Department of Agriculture’s routine oversight process to ensure animal care facilities meet standards related to animal welfare, sanitation, record keeping, and daily operations.

“This inspection result reflects the hard and diligent work done every day by the staff at the Animal Control Center,” said John Ridley, Sangamon County Public Health Director. “We are pleased to see the facility meet all state standards and appreciate the commitment shown by everyone involved.”

“This outcome is a credit to Director Jeanne Keenan and the entire Animal Control team,” said James Schackmann, Chairman of the Sangamon County Board’s Public Health Committee. “The County Board has made significant investments in animal control, and this inspection confirms those investments are producing real, positive, results for animal welfare and public health.”

Sangamon County Animal Control is subject to regular inspections to ensure continued compliance with Illinois regulations and to maintain safe and appropriate conditions for animals in its care
