Animal Control to Host Open House

The Sangamon County Animal Control & Adoption Center will host an open house from 10:30-12:30 Saturday, December 3rd. Animal control staff will provide tours of the facility and assist companion seekers with new pet adoptions.

The County says, with building improvements creating a more comfortable and safe environment, increased staffing, a full-time Animal Care manager, and a thriving volunteer program, It's an exciting time at the Sangamon County Animal Control and Adoption Center. And encourages residents to see for themselves this Saturday.

Public Health Committee Chairman James Schackmann said, “What a great opportunity for individuals in our community to meet the newest member of their family! These animals will provide a lifetime of companionship for both young and old, and are looking for the right house to call home. I’ll never forget how my dog, Buddy picked me to stay by my side and since that point I truly understand what they mean by man’s best friend.”

The Animal Control and Adoption Center is located at 2100 Shale St in Springfield.
