The Christian County Agricultural Fair will return to Taylorville next week with five days of grandstand events, exhibits, carnival rides, food vendors and live music.

The fair is scheduled for July 21 through July 25 at the Christian County Fairgrounds, 1716 West Spresser in Taylorville. The fair website promotes food vendors, a beer tent, family-friendly games and rides, livestock and exhibit entries, and grandstand events throughout the week.

The grandstand schedule opens Tuesday, July 21, with the Queen Pageant. Wednesday’s schedule includes a Senior Citizens Appreciation Dinner, the No. 7 BRANDT Professional Agriculture NASCAR driven by Justin Allgaier, Fair Community Day from 4 to 8 p.m., the Dr. Incredible Magic Show, the Joe Selle Butterfly Collection and stock car races.

Thursday’s events include the NASCAR display, country line dancing at 6 p.m., the Outlaw Truck & Tractor Pull at 7 p.m. and the Western Style Show at 7 p.m. Saturday’s schedule includes the demolition derby, Tot-Rod Pedal Pull at 9 a.m., the Classic Car Cruise from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., two Dr. Incredible Magic Show time blocks and a Lego Contest at 2 p.m.

The fair’s featured concert is scheduled for Friday, July 24, when Gary Allan performs with Mark Chesnutt at 7:30 p.m. Allan brings a long-running country career that has mixed Nashville songwriting with a West Coast edge, with his official biography noting the platinum success of Smoke Rings in the Dark and his later album Ruthless. Chesnutt adds a classic 1990s country presence to the night. His official site lists hits including “Too Cold at Home,” “Brother Jukebox” and “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” and says he earned 14 No. 1 hits and 23 Top 10 songs by the end of the decade.

Gate admission and parking are listed as free on the fair’s general information page, with grandstand seating prices posted separately. More information is available through the Christian County Agricultural Fair website.
