City of Springfield Announces Return of Planter Contest

The City of Springfield announced the return of its Holiday Planter Contest, inviting the community to help beautify downtown for the upcoming holiday season.

Participation in this festive event is free and open to individuals, businesses, and groups.

The contest, organized by the Department of Public Works and the Mayor's Office, allows participants to decorate one of the city's 219 planters located throughout downtown.

Planters will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, with participants able to request a planter near their business or organization during registration.

How to Participate: Participants will have from November 16 to November 29 to decorate their assigned planters. Decorations must be weather-resistant, safe, and not exceed two feet in height. No offensive content, fire hazards, or permanent changes to city property are allowed. While political statements are prohibited, participants are encouraged to creatively promote their business or organization.

Judging will take place between November 30 and December 9, with prizes awarded to the top three displays.
