Coffey Receives Friend of Agriculture Award

State Representative Mike Coffey, R-Springfield, has been recognized by the Illinois Farm Bureau with its "Friend of Agriculture" award, honoring his support for Illinois farmers and the state's agricultural industry.

Coffey received the award from Sangamon County Farm Bureau President Scott Landrey during a recent event at Edgewood Golf Club in Auburn.

The Illinois Farm Bureau presents the award to legislators who demonstrate a commitment to agriculture through their voting records and support of legislation affecting farmers and rural communities. The organization evaluates lawmakers on issues including property rights, environmental regulations, sustainability, and economic policies that impact farm families.

"I am honored to receive this important award from Farm Bureau leaders in this region, especially with agriculture being Illinois's top industry," Coffey said. "Illinois farmers are essential for keeping our economy moving and providing food for families across the state, and I will continue advocating for policies that strengthen agriculture and protect family farms."

According to the Illinois Farm Bureau, the award recognizes legislators who understand the broad impact of the state's agricultural industry and the role farmers play in producing food, fiber, and fuel for consumers in Illinois and around the world.

Agriculture remains Illinois' largest industry, contributing billions of dollars annually to the state's economy and supporting thousands of jobs across farming, food production, transportation, manufacturing, and related businesses.

Coffey represents the 95th House District, which includes portions of Sangamon County and surrounding communities. His office said the recognition reflects his legislative support for policies affecting Illinois agriculture and family farms.
