The Sangamon County Board hosted an opening reception on February 10 to mark the installation of new art exhibits in the Sangamon County Building. The exhibits were presented by the Springfield Art Association in collaboration with the Illinois Prairie Pastel Society and feature work by local artists across several mediums.

Artwork displayed along the building’s wall space includes pastel pieces created by members of the Illinois Prairie Pastel Society. Display cases feature stained-glass projects by Morgan Behnke and students from the Springfield Art Association’s stained-glass classes, as well as ceramic works by local artist Scott Day.

The reception was held on the second floor of the Sangamon County Building prior to the County Board’s regularly scheduled meeting. Attendees had the opportunity to view the exhibits before the evening’s official business began.

The exhibits were organized in partnership with the Springfield Art Association under the direction of Betsy Dollar, who works with the County to curate rotating exhibits throughout the year. Community members attended the event to view the artwork and learn more about the artists and organizations involved. Light refreshments were served during the reception.

The exhibits will remain on display in the Sangamon County Building through the end of April.
