Cream of the Crop Photo Contest

Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs invites young photographers from across the state to participate in the 2023 Cream of the Crop Photo Contest. Open to students aged 8 to 18; this contest celebrates the artistry of capturing Illinois' agriculture.

Submissions can be made electronically until the June 12 deadline. Bright Start scholarship funds await the top winners in three age categories. The first-place recipient will receive $1,000, followed by $500 for second place, and $250 for third place.

"The Cream of the Crop Photo Contest offers a platform for students to showcase their creativity and promote the beauty of Illinois' agricultural landscape," said Treasurer Frerichs.

Winning photographs will not only receive scholarship funds but also be featured in Ag Invest marketing materials, including the 2023-2024 Ag Invest calendar. Additionally, they will be displayed at the renowned Illinois State Fair in August.

Now in its 11th year, the contest has witnessed the participation of over 500 students, who have submitted close to 1,000 captivating photos. The Cream of the Crop Photo Contest forms part of the Illinois State Treasurer's Ag Invest program, which commemorates its 40th anniversary this year. The program provides affordable financing options to Illinois farmers and agri-businesses.
