A residential burglary in Springfield this week is prompting a call for assistance from the public to track down the perpetrator. The incident took place on August 12, between 5 and 6 a.m., in the 1600 block of S. 16th Street, catching the homeowner off guard.


Law enforcement officials believe a male suspect shattered a rear window, causing $500 in damage, to gain entry into the occupied residence. The bold intruder made off with over $1300 worth of property, including electronics like televisions and gaming gear. Authorities have released images of the suspect on the Crime Stoppers website, cashfortips.us, in hopes of identifying him.


Residents with any information related to this incident are urged to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 217-788-8427, submit tips on cashfortips.us, or utilize the P3 app. A reward of up to $2500 is offered for tips leading to an arrest.
