Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help with information related to an August 8 shooting currently under investigation by the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to the 1400 block of Chalmers Street around 1:30 a.m. after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found a male victim suffering from two gunshot wounds.
Investigators say video footage shows a four-door sedan fleeing the area, traveling north on 14th Street immediately after the shooting. Images of the vehicle are posted on the Crime Stoppers website at cashfortips.us.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously by calling 217-788-8427, submitting a tip online at cashfortips.us, or using the P3 mobile app. Tips that lead to an arrest could earn the caller a cash reward of up to $2,500.
