Crime Stoppers: Crime of the Week

Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in identifying those responsible for a burglary and theft at a rural worksite near Illiopolis.
According to Crime Stoppers, the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary that occurred in the 4300 block of Mount Pulaski Road in rural Illiopolis. The incident took place sometime between 5 p.m. on March 1 and 7 a.m. on March 2.
Authorities reported that unknown individuals entered a job site during that time period and removed several items. The stolen property included a 48-inch orange Rigid toolbox and a 30-inch black Rigid toolbox. The toolboxes contained a variety of Milwaukee and DeWalt power tools with a combined estimated value of about $1,000.
Crime Stoppers stated that images related to the investigation will be posted on its website if they become available.
Sangamon County Sheriff Paula Crouch encouraged anyone with information to come forward. “We encourage anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area or who has information about this incident to contact Crime Stoppers so we can hold those responsible accountable,” Crouch said.
