Crime Stoppers: Crime of the Week

Crime Stoppers is seeking information to help the Springfield Police Department identify a suspect in connection with a theft at Immaculate Conception Church in Springfield.


The theft happened around 10 a.m. on April 11, 2026, at the church, located at 524 E. Lawrence Ave. Authorities said a white male wearing jeans and a dark-colored jacket entered the church and was seen near the altar.


The suspect removed a crucifix and thurible from the area, according to Crime Stoppers. The items were valued at more than $2,000 and also hold significant religious and community value.

Anyone with information about the incident or who can identify the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 217-788-8427, submit a tip at cashfortips.us, or use the P3 app. If a tip results in an arrest, the caller could receive a cash reward of up to $2,500.
