The Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon, has identified the two individuals who died following a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Veteran’s Parkway and West Jefferson Street in Springfield early yesterday morning.
Anthony Carroll, 40, of Springfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy conducted yesterday revealed that Mr. Carroll died from injuries sustained in the crash. Christian Markey, 28, also of Springfield, was transported from the scene by EMS and pronounced dead at Springfield Memorial Hospital at 12:32 a.m., shortly after his arrival. An autopsy on Mr. Markey confirmed that his death was also due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner's Office and the Illinois State Police.
