Lincoln Land Community College will host free Media Makers Camps July 13-16 for students entering their sophomore, junior and senior years of high school, offering participants an introduction to the field of integrated media design.
The camps will take place at LLCC-Medical District, located at 130 W. Mason St. in Springfield, and will feature hands-on instruction in several areas of digital media and design.
Each camp session will run for four days and will be divided into morning and afternoon programs. Morning sessions, held from 9 a.m. to noon, will focus on digital photography and video production. Afternoon sessions, scheduled from 1-4 p.m., will focus on animation and game design.
The camps will be led by Matthew Shaver, professor in LLCC’s integrated media design program, along with instructor Kerri Risch. Organizers said the camps are intended to give students an inside look at modern graphic design and creative media fields through interactive learning opportunities.
Space for the camps is limited. Registration is available online at www.llcc.edu/media-makers.
The camps are being offered at no cost through funding provided by a Strengthening Community Colleges Training grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.
