Friefeld Appointed Director of Center for Lincoln Studies

The University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) has announced the appointment of Jacob K. Friefeld, Ph.D., as the new director of the Center for Lincoln Studies, effective August 16, 2023. Dr. Friefeld brings a wealth of experience and expertise from his previous role as the Illinois and Midwest studies research historian at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield.


In his new position, Dr. Friefeld will spearhead efforts to advance research, education, and public understanding of Abraham Lincoln's remarkable life and historical significance. The Center serves as an invaluable resource for students, scholars, and the public, providing unique opportunities to explore the profound impact of the 16th president on modern society.
