Hospital Sisters Health System has been named one of the 2026 “Top Places to Work in Healthcare” by Becker’s Healthcare, according to a recent announcement. The national list recognizes hospitals and health systems that focus on supporting employees through workplace culture, professional development and benefits.

HSHS, which is headquartered in Springfield, operates 14 hospitals across Central and Southern Illinois and Eastern Wisconsin, along with home health and hospice programs. The system employs more than 10,000 colleagues.

This marks the third consecutive year HSHS has appeared on Becker’s list. The publication reviews organizations across the country and highlights those that provide career advancement opportunities, support work-life balance and invest in employee wellbeing.

“We are honored to be recognized among other well-respected institutions nationwide for our workplace atmosphere,” said Damond Boatwright, President and CEO of HSHS. “Our ministry is strong because of our colleagues and physicians, and we work hard to ensure opportunities for them to expand their horizons both professionally and personally. HSHS provides a place for people to grow in their career while remaining committed to their health and wellbeing.”

Thomas Ahr, Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for HSHS, said the recognition reflects ongoing efforts to provide clear career paths and workplace support. Those efforts include clinical career ladders, leadership development programs and tuition assistance opportunities.

Becker’s Healthcare publishes the annual list to recognize healthcare organizations that prioritize their workforce while continuing to provide patient care. The full list of honorees is available through Becker’s Healthcare.
