Springfield’s July events calendar opens with patriotic programming, theater and Fourth of July activities before turning toward live music and outdoor recreation later in the month.
The month begins July 1 with two events tied to American history. Lincoln Library, The Public Library of Springfield, is scheduled to host “The Founding Mothers” at 6 p.m. The program is described as an illustrated lecture focused on women who had a firsthand view of the nation’s founding.
Also beginning July 1, The Hoogland Center for the Arts will present “1776” through July 5. The musical is being performed in honor of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, with evening performances July 1-3 and matinees on July 4 and July 5.
Fourth of July events include the Freedom Run 2026 at Centennial Park and the 4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza at Knight’s Action Park and Trade Winds. The Freedom Run is listed for July 4, while the fireworks event is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Knight’s Action Park/Trade Winds.
The July calendar also includes live music. The Fortunate Sons, a Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute act, are scheduled to perform July 11 at Danenberger Family Vineyards.
Later in the month, athletes will head to Lake Springfield for the Lake Springfield Triathlon on July 25. The event begins at 7 a.m. at the Lake Springfield Beach House and includes a dock jump into the lake, a bike course through country roads and a shaded run with rolling hills.
Together, the month’s lineup gives Springfield-area residents and visitors a mix of Independence Day programming, theater, music and outdoor competition.
