KC and the Sunshine Band Coming to Springfield

The UIS Performing Arts Center has added two performances to its 2026-27 season, with tickets now available to the public for both events.

KC and the Sunshine Band will perform Friday, Sept. 25, while author Candace Bushnell will bring her one-woman show to Springfield on Saturday, Nov. 7.

Led by Harry Wayne "KC" Casey, KC and the Sunshine Band has spent more than 50 years performing a catalog of hits that includes "Get Down Tonight," "That's the Way (I Like It)," "Shake Your Booty," "Boogie Shoes," and "Give It Up." The group has sold more than 100 million records worldwide and continues to tour, performing the disco, funk and pop music that made it one of the defining acts of the genre.

Bushnell is the bestselling author whose writing inspired the television series Sex and the City. During her live performance, she shares stories about the creation of the franchise while discussing topics including relationships, friendship, dating and modern life through a mix of personal stories and humor.

Following the Nov. 7 performance, a limited number of attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a post-show meet-and-greet with Bushnell. Meet-and-greet tickets are available for an additional charge and must be purchased in advance. Availability is limited.

Tickets for both performances are available through the UIS Performing Arts Center website, UISpac.com, by calling the UIS Ticket Office at (217) 206-6160, or by visiting the ticket office during regular business hours from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Additional information about the performances and FRIENDS memberships is available through the UIS Performing Arts Center.
