An administrator at Lanphier High School has been placed on paid administrative leave following an arrest on charges of aggravated battery involving two students, according to statements from Springfield School District 186. The district confirmed that the assistant principal in question is no longer active in school duties while the legal process unfolds.

The allegations stem from an incident that purportedly occurred at Lanphier High School, in which the assistant principal allegedly pushed and hit a student. In response, District 186 issued a statement affirming it is cooperating with law enforcement and treating the matter with full seriousness.

At a recent school board meeting, community members and board officials expressed concern and sought assurance that student safety and administrative accountability remain priorities. Board member Micah Miller, during discussions about the district’s budget, an $18 million deficit in the current fiscal plans, also asked for clarity on how the district ensures trust and transparency in times of controversy.

Superintendent Jennifer Gill, addressing safety concerns district‐wide, emphasized that while the outcome of this particular case is still pending, District 186 does not tolerate conduct that may endanger or undermine student welfare. The district also reminded families that due process and privacy protocols limit the amount of detail that can be shared at this time.
