Letter to the Editor: A Grandmother’s View of Scheels Sports Park

This past weekend, I visited the new Scheels Sports Park in Springfield with my family for my grandson’s baseball tournament, and I came away very impressed.

The park was easy to get to, and once we arrived, it was simple to navigate between the ballfields. For families going from one game to another, or grandparents trying to keep up with tournament schedules, that makes a big difference.

It was also exciting to see so many teams and families gathered in Springfield for a weekend of baseball. Events like this bring people into our community, support businesses and give young athletes a place to compete and make memories.

The sports park is already something Springfield can be proud of, and I cannot wait to see it fully completed. With seven grandchildren, I hope I will be spending many weekends there over the next several years, cheering them on and enjoying everything the park has to offer.
