Springfield Mayor Misty Buscher has announced she will seek a second term.
Buscher launched her reelection campaign Friday night at Boondocks, speaking to a packed room of supporters. She was elected mayor on April 4, 2023, after defeating former Mayor Jim Langfelder, and was sworn into office on May 5, 2023.
Before becoming mayor, Buscher served two terms as Springfield city treasurer from 2015 to 2023. Prior to her time in public office, she spent 25 years working in Springfield’s financial industry, including as vice president of Marine Bank.
Her 2023 campaign drew heavy support from local labor unions and the Sangamon County Republican Party.
Buscher has been active in the community for years, serving on several local boards and volunteering with organizations including the Red Cross, Boys & Girls Club, SPARC, March of Dimes, Compass for Kids and Meals on Wheels.
