Motorcyclist Dies Following Crash Near Ninth and Carpenter

A Springfield man died Monday afternoon after a crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck near the intersection of Ninth and Carpenter streets.

JB Logan, 77, was taken to HSHS St. John’s Hospital following the collision but died shortly after arriving at the emergency room.

Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon identified Logan in a news release issued Monday. Preliminary autopsy findings completed June 2 determined Logan’s cause of death was blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.

The collision occurred at approximately 3 p.m. on June 1.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office and the Springfield Police Department.
