The Springfield Municipal Opera will present its 2026 summer lineup under the theme “Season of Love,” featuring five productions scheduled at the outdoor theater on East Lake Drive.

The season centers on love in its many forms and includes a mix of contemporary favorites and family productions. The 2026 lineup features Mamma Mia!, All Shook Up, The Prince of Egypt: The Musical, Disney’s Frozen: The Broadway Musical, and Disney’s The Lion King Jr.

“Our 2026 season is one of love, which really goes to the heart of The Muni,” said Muni President Kevin Burke in a statement. “From the volunteers who create magic behind the scenes to the families who fill our seats, The Muni runs on love. And this summer, we’re celebrating that in every song, every story, and every show.”

The season opens with Mamma Mia!, directed by Morgan Kaplan and Andrew Maynerich, running May 29–31 and June 3–6. Featuring the music of ABBA, the musical follows a mother, a daughter, and three possible fathers on a Greek island.

All Shook Up, directed by Kelly Robertson, is scheduled for June 19–21 and June 24–27. Inspired by the music of Elvis Presley, the production centers on a rock ’n’ roll romance that explores themes of following one’s heart and challenging expectations.

In July, The Muni will stage The Prince of Egypt: The Musical, directed by Wes Bridges, on July 10–12 and July 15–18. The production tells the story of Moses and Ramses and features music by Stephen Schwartz, known for Wicked and Godspell.

Disney’s Frozen: The Broadway Musical, directed by DJ and Alyssa Shultz, will run July 31–Aug. 2 and Aug. 5–8. Based on the animated film, the stage adaptation highlights themes of sisterhood and self-discovery, including songs such as “Let It Go” and “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?”

The season concludes Aug. 20–23 with Disney’s The Lion King Jr., directed by Tiffany Williams. The youth production follows Simba and his friends as they navigate responsibility and the circle of life.

Tickets for the 2026 “Season of Love” are available through MetroTix at TheMuni.org.

Founded more than 50 years ago, The Springfield Municipal Opera is a nonprofit community theater located at 815 East Lake Drive.
