Professional golf will return to Springfield next week as the Memorial Health Championship presented by LRS takes place June 25 through June 28 at Panther Creek Country Club.
The tournament is part of the Korn Ferry Tour, the primary developmental tour for the PGA Tour, and will feature 156 professional golfers from around the world competing across four rounds for a total purse of $1 million. Tournament gates will open daily at 6 a.m.
The Memorial Health Championship has become one of Springfield’s largest annual sporting events, bringing players, caddies, staff members, volunteers and spectators to the area during tournament week. The event also places Springfield on a national stage through Korn Ferry Tour coverage and competition.
Players competing on the Korn Ferry Tour are working to earn PGA Tour status through season-long performance and tournament results. Many current PGA Tour players previously competed on the Korn Ferry Tour before advancing to golf’s highest level.
The Springfield event has also featured players who later became familiar names to PGA Tour fans. Tournament officials have previously noted that future PGA Tour champions Wesley Bryan, J.T. Poston, Adam Long and Cameron Champ have recorded top-10 finishes at the event. Past Springfield champions have also included players such as Taylor Moore, Paul Haley II, Max McGreevy, Xinjun Zhang, Adam Schenk and Austin Smotherman.
In addition to tournament play, championship week includes several events leading into the four days of competition. The course will be closed to the public June 22 through June 24 for pro-am and private events before first-round tournament play begins Thursday, June 25.
Fans attending the tournament will be able to follow players throughout the course, visit concessions and take part in family-friendly activities scheduled during the week. The tournament schedule includes a Kids Autograph Zone during competition days, Folds of Honor Friday on June 26 and Family Fun Day activities on Saturday, June 27.
Hospitality areas will open at 9 a.m. during tournament play, with concessions opening at 10 a.m. The final round is scheduled for Sunday, June 28, with a trophy presentation planned on the 18th green immediately following play.
Admission to the tournament is free to the public through Visit Springfield. Spectators are encouraged to register for free general admission grounds tickets online.
Fans looking for an upgraded experience may also purchase J & J Gaming VIP Lounge passes. The VIP option includes premium views of the 9th and 18th greens, lunch buffets, afternoon snacks and access to full bar service.
