Two Arrested Following Laketown Shots Fired Investigation

Two Springfield men have been arrested following an investigation into a shots fired incident that occurred in April in Springfield’s Laketown neighborhood.
According to the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 9:39 p.m. on April 24 to reports of shots fired in the 3200 block of Normandy Road. Multiple residents reported hearing numerous gunshots in the area.
When deputies arrived, they located evidence of gunfire damage at two residences and one vehicle. Investigators said multiple bullet holes were identified, and numerous shell casings were recovered from the street. No injuries were reported.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office were assigned to conduct a follow-up investigation into the incident. As a result of that investigation, arrest warrants were issued June 11 for two individuals.

Christopher D. Dibello, 20, and Darrian N. Stephenson, 19, both of Springfield, were charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with No FOID, and Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Stephenson was arrested June 12 in the 1500 block of East Edwards Street and was ordered held in custody following an initial court appearance.
Dibello was taken into custody June 15 and remained in custody pending his first court appearance.
The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Springfield Police Department and the United States Marshals Service for assisting with the investigation.
