Senor-Moore Sworn In as Associate Judge

Sierra Senor-Moore was sworn in today as an associate judge of the Seventh Judicial Circuit. Her appointment, announced in late July, followed a vote of the circuit judges
.
Senor-Moore is the first Black woman to serve as an associate judge in the Seventh Circuit, which includes Sangamon, Macoupin, Morgan, Scott, Greene, and Jersey counties. She previously served as a prosecutor in the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office and most recently worked with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of Illinois in Springfield.
Among those present for the ceremony was Illinois Supreme Court Justice Lisa Holder White, the first Black woman to serve on the state’s highest court. Justice Holder White, appointed to the Supreme Court in 2022, has long been recognized for her leadership in expanding diversity within the judiciary.
Senor-Moore received her undergraduate degree in 2008 from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina, and her Juris Doctor in 2015 from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis, Indiana.
