Sheriff's Office Investigates Shooting at The Cove

At approximately 1:27 am on the morning of May 6, 2024, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at The Cove, 1616 North Dirksen Parkway, in Springfield. The caller stated a bouncer at the bar had just been shot in the parking lot.


Deputies arrived and found the victim, a Springfield man in his 30’s, was shot in the torso. The victim was able to tell deputies he confronted some individuals about loitering in the parking lot. When he turned away from the subjects, he heard shots and realized he had been hit. The victim was transported to Springfield Memorial Hospital, treated for a minor gunshot wound to the hip, and released.


Deputies reviewed the video footage from the bar’s surveillance cameras and determined the suspect vehicle was a white Honda Accord. Detectives have been assigned the case and are working on identifying the shooter(s).
