In March 2024, the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office Drug Interdiction and Response Team (DIRT) opened a narcotics investigation on Jamaar M. Moore, 28, of Springfield. DIRT conducted multiple controlled buys of suspected methamphetamine from Moore, totaling approximately 330 grams. A search warrant was granted for Moore’s residence in the 2300 block of Austin Drive.
On Friday, April 25, the Sangamon County Tactical Response Unit (TRU) and detectives executed a search warrant on Moore’s residence. After briefly resisting arrest, Moore was taken into custody. No parties were injured during the arrest.
During the search, approximately $3,500 in U.S. currency, 366 grams of methamphetamine, three cellphones, a small amount of cannabis, and a small amount of suspected fentanyl were seized from the residence, along with Moore’s 2020 Hyundai sedan.
Moore, who is currently on federal probation for weapons and narcotics convictions, was transported to the Sangamon County Jail. Moore was booked on five counts of manufacture/delivery of methamphetamine, five counts of resisting arrest, and possession of methamphetamine (100-400 grams).
