Springfield residents are invited to join the city’s 4th Annual Pumpkin Smash this Saturday, November 9, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Union Square Park, located at 500 E. Madison. This family-friendly event offers a unique way to dispose of Halloween pumpkins responsibly—by smashing them!
The Pumpkin Smash aims to keep pumpkins out of landfills, transforming them into compost instead. The first 100 attendees will receive a free reusable bag, a small token of appreciation for supporting sustainability.
This event is a collaborative effort with Springfield Public Works, CWLP, Visit Springfield, Habitat for Humanity, SMTD, Sustainable Springfield, Enos Park Community Garden, Butler Elementary School Garden, and The Kidzeum. Come out for some smashing fun and help Springfield go green this fall!
