A Springfield man was arrested on a methamphetamine delivery charge after a joint investigation by the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office and Springfield Police Department’s Pro Active Crime Unit.
The investigation centered on suspected methamphetamine distribution involving Derek Lowe, who investigators identified as a suspect in the distribution of the drug from a residence in the 1300 block of West Enos Avenue. Based on information developed during the investigation, authorities obtained a search warrant for Lowe and the residence.
Members of the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office and Springfield Police Department assisted PAC investigators in executing the search warrant. Lowe was the only person inside the residence when authorities served the warrant.
During the search, investigators reported finding approximately 61.8 grams of suspected methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, two digital scales, drug ledgers and $1,127 in U.S. currency. Authorities said the money is expected to be subject to forfeiture proceedings.
Lowe was taken into custody on a charge of unlawful possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver. Additional charges could be reviewed as the investigation continues.
The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office and Springfield Police Department said the agencies will continue working together to investigate illegal drug activity and drug distribution in the community.
