Suspect Charged in Aggravated Battery at Springfield Walgreens

Springfield Police arrested a man on Wednesday afternoon following a reported incident involving a knife at a southside Walgreens.
At approximately 1:08 p.m. on September 17, officers responded to the Walgreens at 2020 S. MacArthur Blvd. after receiving reports of a person with a weapon. Police said a female had entered the store’s restroom and was followed inside by a male who displayed an open knife, threatened her, and then battered the victim before fleeing.
Officers searched the area and located a suspect identified as Malcom Hill, 35, of Springfield. Authorities said Hill was positively identified and taken into custody. He was arrested on charges of aggravated battery, unlawful use of a weapon, and aggravated assault, and later transferred to the Sangamon County Jail.
