Suspects Sought in Water Meter Theft

Crime Stoppers is seeking information to help the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office identify two people involved in the theft of a water meter from a facility in Illiopolis.

The theft occurred around 1:30 p.m. June 29 at a water treatment facility in the 700 block of Mount Auburn Road. A white woman with blonde hair and a white man with a beard and glasses were seen at the facility without permission.

The two suspects allegedly stole a water meter valued at $4,000 before fleeing the scene.
