Township Accepting Applications to Fill Trustee Vacancy

Capital Township is currently seeking applicants to fill the vacancy left by former trustee Brad Carlson, who recently assumed a position on the Springfield City Council. The township announced on Tuesday that interested individuals have until June 21 at 5 p.m. to submit their applications.

Applicants must be a registered voter in Capital Township, and a member of the same political party as the previous officeholder, which is the Republican Party. Those interested should submit a cover letter and resume either in person at the Sangamon County Complex office of Joe Aiello, Capital Township Supervisor/Collector, or via email to Joe.Aiello@sangamonil.gov.

Having served as a trustee for the past seven years, Carlson's departure from the board followed his successful election win over John Houlihan as Alderman in Ward 7 during the Spring municipal elections.

Aiello expressed his gratitude to Carlson, acknowledging his dedication and service to the community;Aiello said, "Brad was a service-minded trustee with a passion for our clients. His knowledge and expertise will be missed."
