The Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s Office will partner with VFW Post 755 to offer a passport registration event for the public in Springfield later this week, providing residents with an additional opportunity to apply for a passport outside of normal weekday hours.
Passport agents from the office of Sangamon County Circuit Clerk Joe Roesch will be available from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 11 at VFW Post 755, located at 2211 Old Jacksonville Road. Standard passport fees will apply, and current processing times are available through the U.S. Department of State’s website.
The event is intended to make the application process more accessible for those who may not be able to visit the Circuit Clerk’s Office during regular business hours.
“VFW Post 755 is pleased to host this opportunity for our community. We are excited to work with the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s office to offer this service on Saturday,” said Josh Seed, commander of VFW Post 755.
Roesch encouraged residents in the Springfield area who need a passport to take advantage of the event.
“We are pleased to partner with local government, banks and merchants to provide community outreach events. Through these events, we hope to make the process of applying for a passport more convenient for everyone,” Roesch said.
Applicants attending the event must bring a certified copy of their birth certificate, a valid photo identification, and an approved passport photo. On-site photo services will be available for those who do not already have a passport photo. Individuals may also be required to provide certified copies of court documents related to name changes, custody, or adoption. Payment must be made with two separate checks or money orders to cover applicable fees.
Residents who are unable to attend the Saturday event may still apply for a passport in person at the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk’s Office during normal business hours, which are 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office is closed on weekends and court holidays.
