A fundraising campaign benefiting HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital is entering its third week at Walmart and Sam’s Club locations.
The “Spark Good. Make Big Change For All Kids.” campaign began June 8 and continues through July 5. Walmart and Sam’s Club have set a goal of raising more than $200,000 for the Springfield hospital, which is a member of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Customers and members can contribute while shopping by agreeing to make a donation when asked at the register. Donations can also be made online at helpkidslivebetter.org.
Those shopping through Walmart.com or the Walmart app may round up their purchases for Children’s Miracle Network during the campaign. Customers can also select Children’s Miracle Network as their preferred charity for future donations.
Money raised through the campaign will directly benefit St. John’s Children’s Hospital. The funds help provide medical equipment used to diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries, support research into treatments and cures for childhood diseases, and fund programs that offer emotional and practical assistance to children and their families.
Andrea S., a local Walmart associate, said her 17-year-old son was previously admitted to St. John’s Children’s Hospital for a heart condition. She said hospital staff made her son feel welcome and cared for during a challenging time.
“At HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital, we are dedicated to providing the very best care for children and families in our community,” said Mary Rogers, CMN Program Manager at St. John’s Children’s Hospital. “The generous support of Walmart and Sam's Club, and their customers and members, allows us to continue providing this essential care. These funds are critical to helping our patients receive the treatments and support they need today, so they can live long and healthy lives.”
Walmart and Sam’s Club have partnered with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals since 1987. During that time, the retailers have collectively raised more than $1 billion to support children’s healthcare across North America.
