The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 770 of Springfield is set to host its third annual “Wings and Wheels” Fly-in & Car Show on Saturday, October 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport. The event, which serves as a fundraiser for the chapter’s aviation scholarship program, continues to grow as a celebration of both aviation and automotive enthusiasts.
Proceeds from the day will support the group’s scholarship initiative, which has awarded five aspiring pilots in the past four years with funding to complete their private pilot certification—an accomplishment every recipient has achieved. Admission is free for spectators and car exhibitors, though donations are welcomed. Guests can also enjoy a meal of burgers, sides, and a drink for $15.
Visitors can look forward to a display of classic and specialty cars alongside an impressive lineup of aircraft. This year’s tarmac will feature a HC-135 helicopter, a UH-72 Lakota helicopter, a Boeing Chinook helicopter, and a Lockheed C-130 Hercules, offering a rare opportunity to see these aircraft up close.
Organizers encourage families and aviation enthusiasts alike to spend the day exploring the sights and supporting the next generation of pilots at this community-focused event.
