Chatham Baseball & Softball Inc. (CBSI) is unveiling an ambitious Field 4 renovation campaign designed to elevate local baseball and softball facilities to stadium-level standards. As nearby communities upgrade their facilities, CBSI leaders believe that enhancing Field 4 will benefit players at every level—from recreational to high school—and strengthen the region’s overall athletic offerings.

The centerpiece of the proposed upgrades is installation of an all‑weather turf infield on Field 4. With turf in place, the project will progress to include new bullpens, upgraded field fencing, and a modern scoreboard—key enhancements aimed at improving the player experience.

Once the playing surface improvements are underway, the second phase will focus on the fan experience. Plans include the addition of stadium-style seating, enhanced exterior fencing with a gated entryway, a press box paired with an improved sound system, and upgraded backstop netting with padding for safety.

The third and final phase, titled “The Extras,” commits to refining auxiliary features such as renovating batting cage areas and improving parking facilities to support increased usage during tournaments and events.

“By transforming Field 4 into a true community stadium, we hope to offer a one‑of‑a‑kind facility right here in Chatham,” CBSI representatives stated. High school teams in the district will also benefit from more professional-grade facilities, empowering program growth and extending playing opportunities within the community.

To make this vision a reality, CBSI is calling on local residents, businesses, and supporters to contribute to the campaign. Donations can be made through the organization’s GoFundMe page. CBSI emphasized that every contribution—regardless of size—will bring the community closer to creating what organizers hope will become the best local facility of its kind in Illinois.

The three‑phase campaign underscores CBSI’s commitment to elevating both player performance and spectator engagement. By modernizing Field 4, the group aims to create a benchmark venue for youth athletics and community events in Chatham.
