State Rep. Mike Coffey is collecting school supplies to help students and families throughout the 95th District prepare for the upcoming school year.
With the cost of living continuing to rise in Illinois, Coffey said many families are finding it more difficult to afford the supplies students need in the classroom. The back-to-school supply drive is intended to help ensure students have the tools they need to begin the school year prepared.
“The best part about my back-to-school supply drive is knowing we’re helping students get the supplies they need to be successful,” Coffey said. “The cost of school supplies adds up quickly, and I know many families are feeling that burden. By working together as a community, we can help students start the school year prepared and ready to learn.”
Coffey’s office is collecting new school supplies through Friday, August 7. Donations may be dropped off at his district office, located at 401 S. Spring Street in Springfield.
Supplies being collected include pens, No. 2 pencils, pink erasers, notebooks, folders, binders, crayons, colored pencils, markers, glue sticks and tissues.
