Crime Stoppers: Crime of the Week

Springfield Police are investigating a series of thefts and criminal damages involving propane tanks from three local businesses over the past few weeks. Crime Stoppers is now seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects responsible for these incidents.

Surveillance footage from one of the locations captured an individual riding a red dirt bike with a number 5 or 6 rider sign on the handlebars. The individual was seen breaking the lock on a propane cage. Shortly afterward, a black SUV arrived, collecting the stolen propane tanks, which had been hidden on the property. The cumulative loss from these thefts is valued in the thousands of dollars.

Crime Stoppers has released images of the suspect and the dirt bike on their website, cashfortips.us. Anyone with information about the thefts or the suspect’s identity is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously by calling 217-788-8427, submitting a tip online at cashfortips.us, or using the P3 app. Tips leading to an arrest could result in a cash reward of up to $2,500.

Remember Crime Stoppers only wants your information, not your name.
