The Illinois State Police (ISP) celebrated the graduation of 95 new troopers during a ceremony held at Westside Christian Church in Springfield. Cadet Class 150 is the largest ISP graduating class in the past 25 years and includes both traditional and lateral entry cadets. The new officers will report to ISP Troop locations across the state on Sunday, July 13.
Cadet Class 150 marks the 22nd cadet class graduation under Governor JB Pritzker and ISP Director Brendan F. Kelly. Since 2019, 692 new troopers have joined the agency.
"It’s a privilege to swear in the largest ISP cadet class in the past 25 years,” said Director Kelly. "Law enforcement agencies across the country can struggle to hire new officers, but we continue to rise above that challenge because of our values of Integrity, Service, and Pride to now commission the largest class so far in the 21st century.”

The class included 43 cadets in the traditional track who completed a 29-week training program, and 52 cadets in the lateral entry track—certified officers who completed a 12-week program. Both programs included instruction in areas such as cultural diversity, procedural justice, domestic violence response, critical incident management, de-escalation, firearms training, and criminal law.
Following academy graduation, all troopers participate in a 14-week field training program alongside experienced Field Training Officers. Upon successful completion, troopers advance to solo patrol status.
The new troopers will begin duty across the following ISP districts:
Troop 1 (Pecatonica/Sterling) – 2 troopers
Troop 2 (LaSalle/Moline) – 4 troopers
Troop 3 (Chicago) – 25 troopers
Troop 4 (Macomb/Metamora) – 9 troopers
Troop 5 (Pontiac/Ashkum) – 2 troopers
Troop 6 (Springfield/Pittsfield) – 1 trooper
Troop 7 (Pesotum) – 6 troopers
Troop 8 (Collinsville) – 33 troopers
Troop 9 (Effingham/Carmi) – 11 troopers
Troop 10 (DuQuoin/Ullin) – 2 troopers
