On July 2, 2024 at approximately 10:00 a.m., Springfield Police Department Street Crimes Unit assisted Illinois Department of Corrections parole agents in conducting a compliance check in the 3000 block of S. 3rd Street.
As a result of the compliance check the following items were recovered and seized: (1) black Taurus G3C 9mm semi-automatic pistol, (1) Sig Sauer 9mm P938 semi-automatic pistol, (4) magazines and ammunition.
Additionally, approximately 511 grams of cocaine and 19.6 grams of hydrocodone were located and seized.
Cortez M. Gardner, 32, of Springfield, was arrested for manufacture/delivery of cocaine, unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and possession of firearms - no FOID. Gardner is on parole for felony domestic battery. He is currently at the Sangamon County Jail.
