Springfield Man Killed in Pedestrian vs. Train Incident

A Springfield man has passed away following a pedestrian vs. train incident.

Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon confirmed the death of a 46-year-old male from Springfield. The deceased, a pedestrian, was transported from the scene of a pedestrian vs train incident near the South 11th Street and East Cook Street railway in Springfield.


EMS transported the pedestrian to HSHS St. John’s Hospital’s emergency room, where he was pronounced deceased at 10:52 am.


The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification. An autopsy has been scheduled. The death remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Springfield Police Department.
