The Springfield Youth Performance Group Foundation (SYPG) will present a production of The Snow Queen, a children's ballet, on April 12, 2025, at 2 p.m. and April 13, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Sacred Heart-Griffin Auditorium, located at 1200 West Washington Street in Springfield.
Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale, the performance features original choreography by Elizabeth Cheney and is presented in a one-hour format designed to introduce young audiences to ballet. The story follows two princesses in a northern kingdom, focusing on the older sister, Kai, as she discovers her magical abilities and ascends to the throne after a tragic loss.
The production includes more than 50 young performers, ranging in age from 5 to 18, from Springfield and surrounding communities, including Chatham, Rochester, Glenarm, Sherman, New Berlin, Athens, and Jacksonville.
Tickets are available for $25 for adults and $15 for children 13 and under and can be purchased online at www.sypgfoundation.org.
Founded in 2005, the Springfield Youth Performance Group Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing performance opportunities for young artists while promoting arts education and community engagement.
