Staab Funeral Homes has announced that its annual Kids Good Grief Camp will take place on Saturday, April 6, at Erin’s Pavilion at Southwind Park, located at 4965 S. Second Street in Springfield, from noon to 4 p.m.
The camp, designed to help children navigate the loss of a loved one, provides a supportive and engaging environment where kids can explore their grief in a healthy way. The Staab Family founded Kids Good Grief Camp several years ago to assist young individuals in coping with bereavement.
Led by licensed therapists, the camp features a variety of interactive activities, including tree planting, art projects, and therapeutic exercises aimed at helping children process their emotions. A registered healing and comfort dog from PawPrint Ministries will also be present to offer additional support.
The event is open to children ages 6 to 12, and organizers emphasize the importance of connecting with others who have experienced similar losses. By sharing their feelings, participants can validate each other’s emotions and build skills to manage grief in a constructive way.
The cost to attend is $10, though scholarships are available for families in need. Drinks and snacks will be provided.
