Women Hit, Killed by Train in Springfield

On Thursday morning, a woman lost her life after being struck by a train in Springfield.


According to Jim Allmon, the Sangamon County Coroner, a 27-year-old female pedestrian was hit by a northbound train near the intersection of North 5th Street and East Bergen Street.


The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident at 7:50 a.m.


Coroner Jim Allmon identified the 27-year-old woman as Inca Walker of Springfield. According to the autopsy done Friday Walker died due to multiple blunt force injuries from the train.


The death remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Springfield Police Department.
