Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in solving a theft and criminal damage case that occurred earlier this month at the Lake Springfield Marina, 17 Waters Edge.

On August 9 and August 10, Springfield Police responded to reports of gas tanks stolen from rental boats. Investigators say that on August 10 around 10 p.m., a white SUV was seen parked at the far end of the marina lot. Two suspects—one wearing a red shirt with dark pants and the other wearing a white shirt with light pants—were observed leaving the vehicle and walking to the rental boats. A short time later, the SUV was driven down to the docks, where the stolen gas tanks were loaded into the vehicle before it left the area.

Images of the suspect vehicle are posted on the Crime Stoppers website at cashfortips.us. Anyone with information about the incident or the suspects is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 217-788-8427, submit a tip online, or use the P3 mobile app. If a tip leads to an arrest, the caller could receive a cash reward of up to $2,500.

Remember Crime Stoppers only wants your information, not your name.
