The Springfield Lucky Horseshoes announced the appointment of Dalton Doerfler as the pitching coach for the upcoming 2023 Prospect League season. A native of Pawnee, Illinois, Doerfler brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team after a successful collegiate playing career at Benedictine University and Quincy University from 2012-2017.
Following his playing days, Doerfler turned his attention to coaching, where he served as an assistant baseball coach at Pawnee High School during the 2023 Spring baseball season. Additionally, Doerfler provides private lessons throughout the Springfield area, boasting a network of over 20 different clients.
Doerfler is thrilled to represent his hometown with the Lucky Horseshoes, and he is eager to make his mark at the historic Robin Roberts Stadium. When asked about joining the organization, he said, “I’m excited to be a part of the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes organization. The long history of Robin Roberts Stadium and the positive impact the Lucky Horseshoes have made on the community in such a short time is evident, and something I look forward to being involved with. I can’t wait to get started!”
Andrew Miller, the Lucky Horseshoes' Emperor of Engagement, is delighted to continue the team's emphasis on local talent. He believes that Doerfler will be an incredible addition to the staff, bringing his experience as a player and coach, along with his knowledge and network throughout the area.
A majority of the Lucky Horseshoes coaching staff hails from the greater Springfield area, and with the hiring of Doerfler, the team will be hosting over 20 athletes who hail from the state of Illinois. The Lucky Horseshoes are committed to staying local both on and off the field, and they are looking forward to continuing to build strong ties within the community.
The Lucky Horseshoes kick off their 2023 Prospect League Season at home on May 31st. Fans can expect an exciting season, as the team's promotional schedule has already been announced, and individual game tickets are now on sale.
